Making companies accountable - How can the law be used in favour of corporate accountability and environmental justice? November 17th 2016, the European Environmental Bureau organised in partnership with The Club of Rome - EU chapter and The Crowd Versus a debate to support the Ecuadorian lawyers representing 30 000 indigenous and peasants of the UDAPT- Union of people affected by oil operations of Texaco (now Chevron).
The lawyers fight since 23 years in the United States and Ecuador, in Argentina, Brazil, Canada to obtain justice. They try to enforce the sentence of 9.5 billion dollars ordering Chevron to pay the reparation of the damages in the Ecuadorean rainforest.Â
